This Hyman Inspired Superfood Shake is hands down my favorite shake! It’s loaded with powerhouse foods! This scrumptious glass of wholesome goodness is full of omega-3 fatty acids, perfect proteins, antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. I’m a believer in eggs for breakfast, but when I don’t eat eggs, I drink this! Healthy fats and healthy proteins are the perfect way to get your day started!
I like to eat, so replacing a meal with a shake was never a good option for me. When I attempted it, I ended up just adding a shake to my meal. Well, that was before I learned how to make a real shake. Your shake doesn’t have to look just like this. Just remember it’s about fueling your body, so what you put in and what you keep out are equally as important.
This superfood shake is great for breakfast because it will help with satiety, it’s good brain food, it’ll help keep your blood sugar levels stable, and it’s yummy!!!
Don’t forgot this one is tweakable, and because it’s packed with so many great things, it’s still a damn good shake when you’re minus a couple of the powerhouse foods that are in it. If I run out of something, it doesn’t keep me from enjoying it. I simply enjoy it without the ingredient(s) I’m missing.
Here are my core beliefs about this shake…
- You should drink it!
- Mix it up so you don’t get bored (minus lemon, add mint, add cinnamon, add coconut butter, add strawberries, replace blueberries with cranberries, etc.). Just remember to keep it healthful and don’t add unnecessary sugars.

In Our Kitchen
- Unsweetened non-dairy milk (almond, cashew, coconut). Unsweetened because we don’t need the extra sugar. Non-dairy because dairy isn’t necessary. I opt for almond, cashew, or coconut over soy because of the high levels of phytoestrogens and the fact that 90% of the soy that’s on the market today is genetically modified. If you don’t have non-dairy milk on hand, I recommend skipping the dairy altogether and using 1 cup of water.
- Hemp seed. It’s a perfect protein containing all 20 amino acids, helps with arthritis and joint pain, natural appetite suppressant, helps with digestive issues, supports heart health, and more.
- Flaxseed. Great source of fiber, high in omega-3 fatty acids, helps lower cholesterol, high in antioxidants, supports digestive health, and more.
- Pumpkin seed. High in antioxidants, linked to a reduced risk of certain cancers, high in magnesium, great source of fiber, improved bladder health, and more.
- Chia seed. Great source of fiber, high in antioxidants, high in vitamins and minerals, good source of omega-3 fatty acids, supports digestive health, good for energy and metabolism, may fight breast and cervical cancer, and more.
- Raw almond butter or raw almonds. Great antioxidant, good source of magnesium, high in fiber, supports heart health, supports healthy brain function, help control blood sugar levels, can help with weight loss, increase digestive health, and more.
- Walnuts. My favorite nut!!! Great source of omega-3s, rich in antioxidants, promotes a healthy gut, may support weight control, supports good brain function, great anti-inflammatory food, and more.
- Frozen blueberries. Antioxidant, brain food, supports digestion, blood sugar benefits, may help with weight loss, promotes heart health, and more.
- Frozen cranberries. This is a good one to stock up on around the holidays! Great source of antioxidants, helps prevent UTIs, decreases inflammation, improves immune function, reduces risk of heart disease, may help prevent certain cancers, and more.
- Lemon (Yes, the rind too!). The rind contains more nutrients than the juice itself, so don’t let it go to waste.
